From Founding to €3M: Taking a Startup Through Its First Major Round
Client: Early-stage company, ~€400K annual revenue, lean team
Services: Fundraising support · Due diligence management · Cash flow management · Management control · Pricing
The challenge
The company had real traction but a small structure and no finance function able to support an institutional fundraising process. The pre-round phase lasted longer than expected, putting cash under pressure precisely when the company needed to keep growing.
What we did
-
Built the finance section of the investor deck and the underlying financial model.
-
Managed the due diligence process on the company's side, coordinating every information request from investors.
-
Introduced weekly cash reviews to steer the company through the extended pre-round period, actively working on DSO (collection times) and DPO (supplier payment terms).
-
Set up management control to track how people were allocated between client projects and product development.
-
Supported bottom-up pricing, helping the team close commercial deals while protecting margins.
Results
-
€3M raised
-
Revenue from ~€400K to €1.2M
-
Team grown to 34 people
-
Over 18 months after the round, ~€2M still in the bank
Raising capital is only half of the job. The other half is making sure the company gets to the closing with cash under control, and that the money raised is managed carefully afterwards.
